Today we had our final visit with Mrs. Tovey's Fourth Grade class to celebrate the end of the school year and all we accomplished with them throughout the year. Together we enjoyed popsicles under our Kindergarten tree and then journeyed over to the first grade playground where we had a great time "learning the ropes" of this new setting. The kindergartners got a sneak peek at the playground they will be using next year and we also went over some of the rules and expectations. We will see our buddies next year as they lead the school as Fifth Graders! We just know they will do a fantastic job!

Lunch in the Cafeteria!
Today both Kindergarten classes were able to experience what it feels like and looks like to eat lunch in the cafeteria. Some children purchased hot lunches while others brought lunch from home. This was a wonderful opportunity for the "soon to be first graders" to learn the procedures and rules of our cafeteria. They also got the chance to meet our wonderful lunch staff who help out daily - thank you to them! We would also like to thank Mrs. Chen, Mrs. Torkos, Mrs. Bultynck, Mrs. Kleiman and Mrs. Konitsney for joining us and helping us with this big day!!

Kindergarten is Ducky!!
As you know we spent the month of May tracking the growth of chicken eggs in our classroom. We were very disappointed when not 1 egg hatched out of 36! The high school teacher that also hatches eggs with us, did not have any chickens either. We knew that it was disappointing to our kiddos and tried calling every farm within 50 miles to see if we could borrow some chicks for a few days. We didn't have any luck with that - but we were able to borrow some baby ducks! The boys and girls were so surprised when they came in today and saw two baby ducks in our classes. We got to pet them, read a story with them and watch them swim around in a kiddie pool. The boys and girls talked about things that the ducks had in common with baby chicks and things that make them different. Although it wasn't the same as watching our own chicks hatch, we were so grateful to be able to have ducks for a day!

Field Day
Today the afternoon class and some children from the morning class had a great time at Field Day!! We spent about 9 minutes at each of the 10 stations! Some of our favorites included: the parachute, water balloon toss, the potato sack race and dizzy bat! When we were done with all 10 stations, we gathered together to listen to the Troy Drumline and eat popsicles. It was a busy and fun afternoon! We owe a special thank you to Mrs. Redden (our gym teacher) for planning this great event, our PTO and the parent/family volunteers!!
